erissery recipeERISERRY (KERALA TRADITIONAL DISH)

Ingredients

2 cups diced pumpkin

1 cup grated coconut

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

4 green chilies

1 tbsp oil

1 tsp mustard seeds

3 dry red chilies

1 bunch curry leaves

salt to taste

Method

Grind the coconut along with green chilies to a coarse paste.

Cook the pumpkin pieces in a pan with enough water to cover the pieces.

When the pumpkin pieces are cooked, mash the pieces, add the ground paste ,turmeric powder and salt . cook on low heat for about 5--10 minutes.

For Seasoning: In a different pan, heat oil and splutter the mustard seeds. dry red chilies, curry leaves and fry. if you wish add a little bit grated coconut. Add this seasoning to the prepared curry and stir well.

Serve hot with white rice .
