Thannir Kulambu

How to Make Thannir Kulambu

 

2 1/2 tbsp corn oil

1/4 tsp asafoetida powder

7 curry leaves

3 dried red chili pepper

1/2 tsp fenugreek seeds

2 tsp urad dal

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 cup chopped tomato

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp sambar powder

1/4 cup tomato sauce

4 cloves garlic crushed

1/2 tsp salt

4 tbsp minced fresh coriander

Method

 

  * Heat corn oil in a saucepan over medium heat

 

  * When oil is hot add asafoetida powder,curry leaves and red pepper

 

  * Add fenugreek, mustard seeds, and urad dal.

 

 

  * Cover and fry until mustard pop and urad dal is golden

 

  * Add onion and tomato.fry for a few minutes

 

  * Add turmeric    powder

 

  * When onion and tomatoes are tender  add sambar powder .Blend well.

 

  * Add tomato sauce and 2 cups of water

 

  * Simmer over medium heat.When kulambu begins to boil add garlic,salt and coriander

 

  * Simmer for a few minutes
