Spicy Chicken in Thick Gravy


How to Make Spicy Chicken in a Thick Gravy

FOR THE SPICE PASTE;

1 kg Chicken,skinless, cut into bite size pieces

8 Dried red chili, soaked in hot water for 10 minutes

1 tbsp coriander seeds

1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds

8 peppercorns

2 tsp poppy seeds

1/2 cup Coconut,finely grated

3/4 cup onions sliced

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp cardamom powder

1/4 tsp cloves powder

2 small cinnamon stick

Salt to taste

1/2 cup coconut oil

1 tbsp garlic paste

1 tbsp ginger paste

1/2 cup lemon juice

  Method; 1. Dry roast each ingredients for the spice paste until brown. Blend to form a smooth paste, adding water if required   2. Heat the oil  in a heavy bottom pan, when hot , add the spice paste,garlic and ginger pastes. Fry stir until the oil separates from the masala   3. Add the chicken pieces with the salt. Stir to mix well. Cook until the water has evaporated. Add the water and cook  covered, until the chicken becomes tender. Add the lemon juice and mix well. The gravy should be thick and dark in color.
