How To MakePuffed Unleavened Bread Puffed  unleavened bread

 

2 cups whole -wheat flour, plus a little extra for dusting

2 tsp vegetable oil

Butter or ghee to   serve

 

Method

 

1. Sift the flour into a bowl and add the oil

 

2 . Stir in enough tepid water to make a soft dough- approximately a 1/2 cup

 

3 . Knead for 10 minutes. The dough should not be sticky

 

4 . Break off golf ball size pieces of dough and roll on  a floured surface into  circles about 6 inches

diameter.

 

5 . As you roll ,dust the chapati with a little flour ,which prevents it from sticking and allows the rolling

pin to move freely

 

6 . Heat a heavy -based frying pan over medium heat

 

7 .Place  a circle of dough in the  pan and cook  for 20 seconds on one side,turn over and wait until

bubbles rise to the surface.

 

8 .Turnover again and allow the other side to cook with the back of a tsp press firmly around the edges

so the chapati puffs up

 

9 . Repeat with the other chapatis and serve immediately with little  butter or ghee or just plain
