PoorBest
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 tablespoons cold butter or margaine
  • ¾ cup buttermilk

Preheat the oven to 425 oF.  Crease a baking sheet.  Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl.  Cut in the butter or margarine with a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.  Gradually pour in the buttermilk, stirring with a fork to form soft dough.

Roll out about ½ inch thick.  Stamp out 2-inch circles with a cookie cutter.  Place on the prepared tray and bake until golden, 12-15 minutes.  Serve warm or at room temperature.
